Manual therapy in San Antonio.

Skilled hands with a reason: find the joint or tissue that stopped moving, and give you the range back.

What It Is

Hands first. Then load.

Manual therapy is skilled hands-on treatment: joint mobilization, soft tissue work and specific stretching, done by a clinician who tested you first. No machine, no protocol pulled off a shelf.

The point is not how good it feels. It is a window. When a stiff joint moves again, the exercise that went nowhere last month finally works, and that is where the change sticks. In your plan this is Pain and Prime work: calm it down, then give it room.

You are the one who pushes through things. Which is how a joint stops moving for three years before anybody puts a hand on it.

What It Helps

Where hands change the outcome.

Stiffness does not stay in one place. The joint that quit moving hands its work to the next one up, and that is the one that starts to hurt.

What A Session Looks Like

How a session runs.

1

We test, so we know what to move.

2

Hands-on work, joint by joint.

3

We load it so the change holds.

Why It Works

Four reasons it earns its place.

Range you can feel the same visit.

Exercises that finally have room to work.

A tested reason for every hand placement.

Less guarding, so strength work sticks.

Questions, Answered

Manual therapy, no mystery.

No. A massage is meant to feel good across a whole region. Manual therapy is aimed. Your clinician tests, finds the joint or tissue that will not move, treats that specific thing, then makes you load it so the change holds. It often feels good. That is a side effect, not the goal.

Some of it is firm, and a stiff joint can be tender while we work it. Nothing here happens to you without warning. You know what is coming, you can stop it at any point, and soreness afterward should feel like a workout rather than a flare.

Two of our therapists hold FAAOMPT, a fellowship in orthopedic manual physical therapy, which is years of training past the doctorate. Dr. McAnelly is also board certified in orthopedics. It means the hands go where the exam says, not where it hurts, and you get told why.
