Running assessment in San Antonio.

We watch you run, we test what your body can actually hold, and we tell you why the same injury keeps arriving at mile six.

What It Is

Your form is a symptom.

A running assessment is a physical exam plus watching you actually run. The exam finds what your hips, ankles and calves can and cannot do. The running shows what you do about it once you are tired.

Almost no running injury starts where it hurts. A calf that cannot take load, a hip that gives up at the end of a long run, a cadence that never changed: those are causes, and they show up as knee pain, heel pain or shin pain further down the chain. This work lives in Perform and Prevent: get you back out there, then keep you there.

You were disciplined enough to train for the same race twice and get hurt both times. That is not a discipline problem.

What It Helps

The injuries that keep coming back.

A training block lost to the same injury is never just the block. It is the base you have to rebuild before you can start again.

Questions, Answered

Running assessment, no mystery.

No. You can come in before a training block instead of after an injury, and that is a good time to do it if you are adding mileage or coming back from a layoff. If nothing hurts yet, the assessment is about meeting the weak link before it introduces itself.

Only if the exam says your form is the problem, and only one or two things at a time. Often the change is capacity rather than style: what your calf tolerates, what your hip controls at mile ten. Form changes that are not backed by strength do not survive a long run anyway.
