Dr. Joseph Hibner, clinical director and physical therapist at Revival Performance Physical Therapy in San Antonio

What it is like to be treated by Joe

Joe is the clinical director here, and he works with active people who have been told to back off.

He is a detail person. He looks, he tests, he tells you what he found in language you can repeat to your spouse at dinner.

Then he does something most people do not expect: he coaches. Six years as a personal trainer means he does not stop at getting you out of pain. He fixes how you move under load.

A patient put it this way:

“Dr. Hibner is a brilliant clinician with an easy way of explaining his detailed observations and diagnoses. He and his team not only helped me recover from injuries, but showed me how to move more efficiently while exercising.”

How he got here

Joe was born in Guam to a military family and moved a lot before Houston became home in middle school. Moving that often teaches you to adapt fast. He still works that way.

He competed in soccer, baseball, football, track and field, basketball and tennis. He has been the injured athlete. He knows what the waiting feels like.

At Texas State University he earned his degree in Exercise and Sports Science and spent six years as a personal trainer. Before physical therapy school he served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Maintenance Officer.

He went on to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy at the University of the Incarnate Word, then completed a fellowship in manual therapy. Outside the clinic it is his wife and daughter, travel, hiking, and his church community at Alamo Community Church in downtown San Antonio.
